Restaurant Manager Hit and Suffers Brain Injuries

A 33-year-old restaurant manager of a pizza restaurant in Orange County suffered traumatic injuries to his brain after he was brutally assaulted by two men. Garret Petersen who manages Thunder Burgrz Pizza, on Main Street in Huntington Beach, refused to give the suspects free pizza. They then jumped on Petersen and beat him until he was unconscious. KTLA reported that the two men have been booked in connection with the assault.

Police officers found Petersen just before 1AM on March 12, 2017. Family members said the victim was in a medically induced coma and needed to undergo surgery for his severe brain injuries. 21-year-old Bryce Anthony Mezich, one of the suspects, was arrested on suspicion of assault with serious bodily harm injury. The second suspect, identified as Austin Wright Callan, was arrested on suspicion of fighting in public. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover for Garret’s medical expenses. If this situation were to ever happen to you, it would be very important that a family member calls an experienced brain injury lawyer in San Diego.

Brain Injury Lawsuits in the US

Each year, an estimated 52,000 people die from brain injuries in the United States, according to a report by the Brain Injury Association. About 280,000 are hospitalized due to brain injuries, while 2.2 million are treated in emergency rooms around the country.

Brain injuries can range from mild to serious. A mild injury doesn’t mean it’s harmless. In fact, even a concussion can lead to life-changing consequences. A major injury to the brain, on the other hand, may require surgery and may lead to permanent disabilities. In some cases, such injuries can be fatal. Victims of major brain injuries may need long-term or extensive treatments. Oftentimes, the most common causes of major brain injuries are car accidents, falls/slips, and struck-by incidents.
