A multi-car collision in East County, San Diego, caused multiple injuries on January 15, 2025.
According to California Highway Patrol, the 18-year-old was driving a 2003 Nissan 350Z westbound on Dehesa Road, west of Sloane Canyon Road, around 4:10 p.m. Monday.
Meanwhile, a 45-year-old man from Spring Valley was driving a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound, and a 24-year-old man from El Cajon was driving a 2019 Mercedes C63 westbound, also on Dehesa Road in the same area.
According to authorities, the Nissan driver veered left, crossed over the solid, double-yellow lines,, and crashed into the front of the Chevrolet for unknown reasons.
The Nissan, whose driver could not regain control of the vehicle, then collided with a dirt embankment and a wooden utility pole.
Meanwhile, the Chevrolet driver also lost control and crossed the path of the Mercedes. The Mercedes then collided with the right side of the truck, authorities said.
Authorities said the driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel as a result of his injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet was taken to Sharp Grossmont Hospital with major injuries, while the driver of the Mercedes sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.
