Question about PCS orders...?

Im currently reclassing from 11B to 15T at fort eustis. I have orders sending me to Camp Humphreys, South Korea in august. Im tryin to find a way outta that. I tried calling branch, he said it was out of his hands. Obviously its korea so no one wants to trade. Is there anything im forgeting (short of a dec. statement) that can get my orders changed?

You could fail the 15T re-class training but there isn't anything that will not damage your career that will keep you from fulfilling your obligation.

If you sign a dec statement, in addition to derailing your career, it's not like you will never ever ever go to the ROK. When you sign a dec, your name comes off that assignment, and back into the 'needs of the Army' mix. If the Army needs 15Ts in Korea, guess what? YOU ARE GOING TO KOREA! And you can't decline it a second time.
The ROK ain't so bad. A few million Soldiers have been through there. You might be able to soften the blow by requesting a follow-on assignment for when you DEROS.

So could you please tell me why you as a soldier have a fear of Disneyland? That is what you are saying when you don't want to go to Camp Humphreys. It is in the process of being made into the best place to be stationed in Korea. Everything on it is practically new. It is also close to Osan AB and not far from the subway. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth and go.

Camp Humphreys isn't that bad. It is only a year. Better than Iraq or Afghanistan. Lots of bars and clubs. Good food and great shopping.
If you are married you can apply for command sponsorship.

Coupla options:
1. Be a man and go to the JSA :-) In Front of Them All!
2. Call in a favor from an officer... if you are specifically requested to go to a particular state-side unit by a specific officer, Branch could feel differently.
3. Sign a dec and end that whole career thing.
4. Call branch again. And again. Try the PERSCOM Commander.
Otherwise, sorry bro... Korea's an unfortunate slot on that whole assignment roullette wheel... can't dodge it forever. That said, it's not Iraq. I'd take the assignment and gut it out, it's really not that bad. Especially at Camp Humphreys. Stay out of TDC. Good luck!
