Military dependent question, can someone help?

2009-10-29 13:27:57 +0000	maybe. he is not eligible for dependent status past 23 as a full time college student. if he is already 21 when you go in he may not be eligible to get dependency status anyway, this will really depend on too many factors that we cannot answer here.. if he will not be residing with you at least 51% of the year then he cannot be counted for housing purposes which means you will not be eligible for housing. 2009-10-29 03:09:53 +0000	he gets them until he turns 23 if he is a full time student he losses them at his 21st birthday when they start requiring proof that they are full time students ...if he lives in another state you can forget the dependent housing...he has to live with you so many months of the year to qualify for that. o A dependent child is TRICARE eligible until age 21 or if enrolled as a full-time college student beyond 21st birthday and dependent on the sponsor for 50% of financial support, the child is eligible only until graduation or 23rd birthday, whichever comes first. http://www.tricare.mil/tricareu/docs/200909/1_DEERS_Sept_09.doc Was this answer helpful to you? 2009-10-29 03:02:25 +0000	If he is in college full time then he is a dependent until he is 23, if not then he is until he is 21. He will qualify for medical, dental, base priviledges, etc... Just because he is a dependent doesn't mean you automatically qualify for housing or being able to live off post. He would have to be residing with you while going to college over 51% of the year. Otherwise you would be considered single and have to either live in barracks or be approved to live off post. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No
