air force definitely. nursing students are automatically accepted into air force ROTC if you are interested in becoming an RN
http://www.afrotc.com/admissions/professional-programs/nursing/
you won't be in the US though, joining any military branch means you will be deployed, especially during wartime. the air force has the shortest deployments at 4-6 months every 2 years. that doesn't mean you will be deployed though, some people go their whole careers without ever being deployed. i've heard the air force is the way to go if you want to join any military branch, plus they have great benefits.
i plan on joining the air force as a nurse one day, i'm applying for ROTC scholarship, best of luck to you :)
ps, you could also consider joining the national guard, but again, they are being deployed because of wartime, so there is still no guarantee but you can live close to home.

an LPN won't cut it.. you have to have the BSN in hand to get a commission as a Nurse. otherwise you are enlisting.
and no matter what you WILL deploy.

You join the military during a time of active conflict, then don't plan on staying stateside.

That dog won't hunt. The military does not recognize LPN's. Only RN's with a BSN can come in as an Officer. You'd come in as an E-3. There are many medical jobs but all of them deploy.

I don't know where these get their ideas from.. If you already have an unrestricted LPN license from any of the 50 states you can join the Army to be an LPN. LPNs go to basic training, and then combat medic school. Usually a person will do 4 years as a combat medic and then request to be set to the Army's own LPN school, but if you already have your LPN license you can start serving as an LPN right away.
However, you cannot stay in the US. Army combat support hospitals are staffed by medics and LPNs and they go to combat zones since that's where the troops are.
You might want to look into the Army reserves. They have the bulk of the military combat support hospitals and you would only have to drill, and when called upon, deploy with your combat support hospital.

No branch will guarantee you stateside duty, but you do have a leg up on most candidates for Navy, Army, or Air Force, corpsman training program.
