You dont have to sign up, I talk to recruiters from every branch, but be careful because some will lie to your face. If I was you I'd look at airforce too, the living conditions are a lot better

There is absolutely no obligation if you just want to go in to talk about joining. If the recruiter implies that there is, they are lying and you should go find a different one.

You can't even sign up until you have passed the ASVAB and the physical. You can visit with him/her as often as you want without any obligation. He has to pre-qualify you, and you have to agree. If you agree you will be scheduled to take your test and physical. Alot of paper work will be done. They also will need various documents form you before you can sign. It is not as simple as here I am where do I sign. Even if the Recruiter wanted to sign you up he couldn't the first time he sees you, plus you still have to volunteer.
Go see at least one from each branch.

Talking to a recruiter about information if you are considering joining in NO WAY ties you into a contract, to be quite honest lots of people do it before they even make their decision for joining. if you are told you are obligated to join by a recruiter (which has happened before) he or she is lying to you. I would, however not recommend that you see a recruiter until you are pretty sure that you want to join the army and this is for once simple reason. that recruiters gonna keep bugging you until you make your decision if you are or are not going to join, even if you say no the station still might call you on occasions. Its just a annoyance if you don't have your mind made up. I'd do some research if i were you, a lot of websites will give you just much information as a recruiter can (in some cases even more).

its perfectly fine, just go in and they'll probably give you more information on the army and also try to convince you to join.

You certainly can, but it's their job to get you to sign up. The Army recruiters I know have been really honest because they don't want you if you don't really want to be a soldier. I've heard plenty of stories though of recruiters who almost outright lie to get you to enlist.
You might be better off just asking a soldier any questions you might have. Feel free to send me a message if you have any (I'm a soldier).

the point of a recruiter is to give information away to people seeking it. So yes you can talk to an army recruiter without any obligation to serve. Where did you get the idea that you had to sign up to talk to a recruiter?
