i work for a company that is laying people off, so i just found a job that i will start on tuesday. i am being laid off on monday. if i start the new part-time job on tuesday, will i still qualify for unemployment benefits? the new job is only part time and they do not allow full-time employees-just part-time.
I don't think so. If you're being laid off you should receive some kind of severance pay so you wouldn't be eligible for the period that covers. I don't think that you can get unemployment if you're employed, even though its part time.
In Texas you can get partial benefits you won't get a big check

I don't know what state you are in , so it could be different where you are?
your allowed to work a certain amount of hours per week. as long as you dont go over the allowed amount you should get benefits alright.Its usually 30 hours or less.it will take a while to go through (few weeks maybe) as there is usually a backlog of claims, but you should get back dated from the date you made your claim.
