I've worked a little retail over the years and have never been asked to submit to a bag check. My current employer has a bag check policy in place. It says in the rules that it is the employee's responsibility to get their bag checked. This, to me, implies that they don't have the right to demand a search, but yesterday I was asked to submit to a bag check, which I refused. Today, they asked again, stating that it is company policy and everyone has to do it. I let them look in my bag, but refused to sign the paper because I do not agree with the policy and I felt like I was under duress. I am still on probation so I don't want to make a huge stink about it. But I would like to know what are my legal rights according to the Bill of Rights, and how do I fight this with facts on my side?

The province shouldn't matter when you are talking about individual rights. That's a Criminal Code issue, which is federal and applies to everyone regardless of where they live in the country.
