sounds liilegal and is, if you dont have the rights to programs and you're using them, then it is illegal. DO you know this guy in Pakistan at all? Be careful as he may be somehow hacking into your comp if you say yes, stealing any and all of your info. The person could also be sending you a virus thru these "programs"

yes its illegal.
And yes, you can get arrested for illegally downloading movies, music, or software. The FBI usually doesn't go after "small-time" criminals who download a few songs or movies for personal use, but there have been some cases where people have been busted. I had a friend who downloaded a movie illegally. The next day he got an email from his Internet provider stating that they had traced the illegal download to his IP address and that if he was caught downloading anything illegal again, his Internet connection would be disabled.

There is no such thing as a free version of software or music or movies. So naturally, if someone is offering it for "free", then it is either stolen or hacked & pirated.

It would be illegal if he is giving you them for free, because he probably isn't paying for them. You both could get in trouble. But I wouldn't believe everything people tell you..
