If I was asked to then yes. If someone wants to die, let them. Also you know your only family better than any judge, and so you'd know if it was right.

i think it is everyones right to choose if they want to die, the problem arises when they are, depending on the illness no longer able to communicate to you what they want.
I find it appalling that people with illness like god sorry cant think of the name they cant swallow or eat or breath properly have to endure months of this and all because of a spineless government they cant die with dignity.
Basically if you are able to ask to die that is your right and nobody else should intervene.

If they couldn't speak or indicate to me what they wanted, I wouldn't do anything. Who am I to make that decision for them? If I knew all along what they wanted through previous conversations, etc., then I may act differently. But if I didn't know what they wanted for sure, then I certainly wouldn't make that decision. If however they were awake, in pain, had a terminal condition, and asked for my help in ending their life, I think that I would have to help them. It should be their choice in that situation as to whether or not to end their life.

I could not let my child or husband suffer, nor anyone else in my family. I would rather them be at peace.....in this situation there is no room for personal greed. Of course I would still want them to be with me, but their comfort is more important to me than what is good for me.

If the person had explicitly and repeatedly expressed a strong desire for euthanasia while they were still well, and the situation calls for it (in constant, debilitating pain, no hope for improvement, no remaining quality of life, family members agree), then yes, I would respect their wishes. I would not pursue aggressive euthanasia (actively ending life) though, as it is illegal in my corner of the world, and it is highly problematic in cases wherein the patient is unable to give consent. Instead, I would ask that they be taken off life- prolonging medications/ devices, or that they not be resuscitated. I think people have the right to die with dignity. No one should have to suffer needlessly.

I agree with it. If you allowed an animal to suffer you would be prosecuted, so why allow a human being to suffer.

I'd let em' die. Also, if someone is wants to die, they should have the right to legally make that choice.

I think it is right providing that the person has an incurable condition that severely affects their quality of life and has expressed a wish to die, simply being fed up of life, or the relatives deciding for them is not acceptable

I personally think it is a decision that should be well thought out. I have told those close to me how I feel if it was me in that position I would not want to have to hang on like that - it puts such a strain on your loved ones. I would not want my children to have to go through seeing me like that. Each and every person has thier own feelings on this. I feel like the best way to be certain about it is to make sure your loved ones know exactly what your wishes are.

Personally, yes. If someone was clearly suffering, and I was asked.
However, according to the Torah, this is forbidden. A life is not for you to take, because it is not yours. It belongs to G-d.

I actually had this situation and it was very difficult.
My Mother-in-law, who I loved and adored, fought a very long battle with cancer, congestive heart failure and various infections. Finally, she was on life support and a feeding tube, in an irreversible coma.
She could have hung on indefinitely, but her children and their spouses finally agreed that it was time to turn off the life support and let her go.
It should have happened months before it did, and who knows if she felt pain of suffered for all those months. She certainly had no quality of life at all.
For that reason, I am very in favor of euthanasia. I would take my own life to spare myself and my family needless suffering, and I would advocate allowing other adults to make the same decisions for themselves. I would also advocate for making the decision for a family member if their situation was terminal or irreversible.
I believe it is sparing needless suffering and allowing the person to die with dignity.

I done a solo talk on this in English and I'm all for as long as it's not being abused e.g. old person with no illness. My auntie had to suffer through cancer all the way andI wish she could've been put out of her misery (I was 8)

I think that everyone should have the right to die in a medically controlled environment. If we allowed animals to suffer like we do some terminally ill people we would be charged with ill treatment.
I do not think that friends and relatives should be involved in the decision. Anyone who has had to make the decision to euthanize a pet will be aware of the guilt that accompanies it! That would be so much worse with a human life!

I guess I have the sentimental point of view here, but I feel that when someone is old and sick and alone, it is the cruelest thing to, at that juncture, swoop in and kill them. I want to baby or mother people who are in bad shape, not "kill them quick and get the inconvenience out of the way."
