Terminator
What would you do if you haven't seen a neighbor in 4 days and her or his car is still parked out front?
Ok here's the question. You live in an apartment or house and over the last 4 days you have noticed that a resident or neighbor has not been seen for 4 days now. Their car is still out front and the blinds over the windows have not been moved and no lights are seen on at night over these last 4 days. You have gone over to knock on the door and notice that the blinds are open just enough to see in and you decide to look through and see nothing out of the ordinary.
What would you do?
A. Knock on the door and if no answer assume the resident is asleep and go about you business.
B. Call your local Police Non-Emergency number and ask them to do a health and welfare check.
C. If you live in an Apartment Complex tell the management, thought they might or most likely not do anything.
or
D. Non of my business and not do anything at all.

This is what I am stuck with at this time. In the Apartment complex I live in I have noticed that a resident across from me has not been seen in the last 4 days now. Her blinds have not been moved and her car is still in it's parking space. I went over and noticed the blinds in the kitchen were open just enough to see in and didn't see anything strange. Only a bowl and cup were in the drain rack. I am now stuck trying to decide with minding my own business or calling the Police Non-Emergency Number and asking them to do a health and welfare check. Also almost no one else pays attention on this complex. And for those of you how say that I should not be snoopy and look in other peoples places you most likely have done it yourself at last once so don't be hypocritical.

First, you should contact the apartment manager. If no action is taken, then you should call the police non-emergency number and tell them your concerns.

Maybe that neighbor is on Vacation or went to visit someone, but if I were you I'd go with B/C just for safe measures.

If I were that worried about it, I would call the police. I would also appreciate it if someone checked on my welfare like that.

Go knock on the door and have an innocuous question ready, like, "Do you know if the mail has come yet today?" just in case she answers.

If they don't answer, then speak to your other neighbors to see if they've seen her. Just because YOU haven't see her doesn't mean that no one else has.

Finally, if all else fails, speak to your apartment complex's superintendant or handyman and see if they have a pass key or something, and go in.

Good luck, and let us know how this turns out, OK?... ☺

A.- A murderer can grab your neck.
C.- They are concerned about payment

I prefer D, but if you are so concerned, go for B.

Knock on the door. The person may have gone on vacation and had other transportation to the airport so they wouldn't have to drive their car.

I'm pretty much with Duncan Puppy, but with a few changes:

- If your neighbor is elderly or otherwise someone you would consider to be in danger, I would contact the apartment management/police non-emergency line sooner rather than later.
- It's pretty unlikely that your apartment manager would let you enter the apartment; instead, somebody from maintenance would probably go in to check things out.
- Talking to your neighbors is a good idea. I'm also a big fan of leaving notes; just slip something under the door. You could go with honesty ("Hey, I noticed ___ and got a little worried, just making sure you're okay") or something innocuous like inviting them to a community group dinner or asking for a dollar to support juvenile diabetes research (but donate that dollar!). My neighbors and I communicate primarily through notes, since we have such different schedules.
- You might also want to see if debris (leaves, dust, etc.) is collecting around the tires of the car; it could be that the car is moving, just not when you're there to see it.
