Of course, God's law should come first, but never, should the two meet!

Consider the "religious law" to be an "administrative" law carried out by a non-governmental agency, where the "real" law that can put you into prison is applied in ADDITION to any religious law. In that sense, the law of the land is the "last" law.

If the government goes with History and when the laws were made, which were in part, represented by Christian belief, they would adhere to the laws of the land, but their right to whatever religion they chose laws over ride that of the laws of the land. For instance, for a believer, if God says, "Obey the laws of the land, yet not if it goes against what God directs you to do", then that individual has the right to go against the law of the land, even if it means jail time for that individual. In the case of Muhammad Ali when he refused to join the military because of his religious beliefs, he was jailed. So, whether you believe in God or not or whatever law you abide to, your rights are nil, so those who don't believe should realize that the laws were always in their favor.

Dangerous question because every single Muslim will say he/she is committed to Islam and that by the order of the 'prophet' and the quoran,
democracy is to be destroyed and infidels are to be killed (us) if they do not conform.
Already there are large area's of the UK that are no go for non Muslims intimidation is rife, AND GORDON BROWN AND TONY BLAIR let them in together with all the other traitors in the House of Commons!!

Well, the bible says that you should follow the law of the land and that it is a sin to break that law.
So, they should go hand in hand, especially if it's U.S. law because it is faith-based, specifically Protestant Christian and at the core, the laws of Christians are the same as those of Jews and Muslims.

I think the constitution did a good job of addressing that.

The government cannot endorse specific sects over other sects, so the law of the land cannot be a specific sect's tenants.

On the other hand, religions are free to practice their religious practices. The government cannot restrict this, in most cases. So, there cannot be a law that says you cannot be a Catholic (as an example), or that Catholics cannot take wine at communion.

Law of the land. Religious law should never apply to anyone that doesn't chose to follow it of their own free will. And religious law should never be a excuse for not obeying the law of the land.

The law of the land, if it's the other way round you won't be able to get rid of religious leaders who set up their own rules.
At the same time every one should be free to practise their own religion without external interference.
Any religious group attempting to force their ideas on the population by the threat of armed conflict should be banned.
At least you can get rid of terrible governments providing that free elections are allowed.
In the UK we are all praying that this will happen soon.

The law of the land should take precedence over religeous law. In the U.S., there are many religeous factions. Trying to abide by these many rules would end up with carnage and continued religeous wars.

The U.S. Constitution protects its citizens from becoming ruled by religeon. Seperation of Church and State is essential for our nation to survive.

Law of the land. There is a reason that the Founding Fathers put the separation of church and state clause into the Constitution.

There are far too many religions, especially in the USA, to start recognizing religious law above the laws of the states and federal government.

Law of the land. That applies to everyone, regardless of their religion.

If religious law came first, how would our justice system function? There would be different standards for different people, based on their religions, and that is NOT fair and equitable justice for all.
