sparkydog_1372	there are three factors that make a genocide, the perpetrators, the victims, and the bystanders. without the bystanders (meaning those of us that stand around not doing anything to stop it) it couldn't happen. so how can we prevent it? stop saying "oh, it's not my problem" or "what can i do?" we need to demand action from our governments instead of allowing them to turn their heads away and pretending that it doesn't happen. mimi	little bit of a vague question and some TERRIBLE ANSWERS! christian_mi (or whatever his name is) wrote an answer that allows for a perfect example of how genocide begins... yes, education is important and bla bla... but one important factor could be democracy. in a democracy the people do not fear the government but the government (president) fears the people. when a state is a representative one, it represents all its people, and ruled by its citizens then it is not in favor of war much (unless considered a must, or self defense)and especially not of civil wars. In a democracy, people are educated without censorship (at least not grave ones), thus the president cannot just impose his(her) ideas on the people. Take a look at past genocides, they rise out of poverty, ignorance, dictatorships, foreign power influences causing wars by proxy... The most famous genocide of Hitler has its roots in a country that was suffering and bitter from the outcomes of WW I, then there is Cambodia where the communist government decided it was time to start from scratch, Rwandan genocide mainly due to a population that was discriminated against for many years, Somalia, x-Yugoslavia a state composed of very different peoples on fake grounds by foreign powers, then there are those in South America, Africa and now in the Middle East.
