If the girl lied to him and he can convince a jury of this, then he may not go to jail. A lawyer can best assess his chances of succeeding, and help him to do so. If the girl and her Evil Mother are not in cahoots with each other, he might get the girl to admit that she tricked him into sleeping with her. Who knows? The Criminal Law act of 2006 inserted language that offers 'an honest mistake' as a defense if in fact the person HONESTLY believed the person to be of legal age to consent. Considering the legal drinking age in Ireland is 18, this may come into play. Tell him to do a little investigating, she may be 18, and these two may be in partnership to coerce money from every guy she sleeps with. Somthing sounds a little fishy here.
