First, you should ask yourself WHY you are uneasy about signing the constitution of the U.S. (I suppose it's the U.S. Const) I don't even understand why you would be uneasy about the constitution. Doesn't make sense.

Jehovah's witnesses don't acknowledge the US Constitution?
That strikes me as weird because I have lived many places where they rely on the 1st Amendment in their universal rights to pester me at my door without recourse to me.
You are not being asked to sign a pledge. The lesson is to learn a little bit about the import the founders felt when they signed it. To learn even more, read James's Madison's notes from the Constitutional Convention (available online for free or in book form from Penguin Press on Amazon and elsewhere)

The Constitution of the United States is A-Political. An atheist, Jehovah's Witness or any other person of faith should have no trouble at all signing it because it is that Constitution that allows him or her to practice their faith (or lack there of) in safety and peace! If they think, feel, have been taught or led to believe different, they are wrong. PERIOD. Is it 'unfair' to ask them to be honored to sign such a document, the answer is 'NO'.

Why does your school want you to sign this? What are they going to do with it. As a rule, do not sign anything without knowing what it will be used for.

Pretty sad in this country when someone is uneasy about signing a copy of the Constitution. Downright sad.

"why does this make me a little uneasy?"
Maybe because you'd rather we lived under the Communist Manifesto or the Koran than under the US constitution?

Find out the reason they want you to sign, and then make your decision. Technically you can't be "forced" to sign anything.

What constitution? The US constitution? The school's constitution?
If you don't agree with the principles stated in the document, don't sign it. But make sure you understand what the next action is that they will take, either way.
EDIT - public schools are not required, and should not be required, to "separate" from the constitutional principles of the US government. In the US, that document requires a separation of church and state, not a separation of citizen and government.
My suggestion to you: read that document thoroughly. If there are parts of it that do not seem clear to you, study it. Then decide if YOU disagree with any part of it, not whether some other person or group does. If you agree, sign it. If you don't, at least you will have formed some educated reason why.

I'll bet you were asked to read and understand it before signing it. The purpose of signing it is to show that you read it.Sign it and feel good about it.
It is the US Constitution which keeps you one of the freest people on Earfth.

Be proud and sign it! Granted there isn't much left to sign after the Bush Administration, but it is still the most important document in our Nation!
