Yes.
Most places have a 90 day "probation period", which basically is to see if the company likes you and if you like the company. It is very important to hire someone that fits in with the other employees and does their job. If they don't, this could lead to resentment from employees that have been with the company for a very long time.
You will be paid for your time in, but the 2-weeks pay is mostly associated with a severence package. Most have to work with a company for a substantial period of time before qualifying for a 2 week paycheck. More than likely you won't get it.
Sorry for your hard luck, and good luck on the future!

move on and get over it. There are better jobs out there. By the comment they made that "you didn't fit in" indicates that the company is very unprofessional. If you were on probation you are not entitled to any pay. They can fire you without notice and without any good reason. You are probably better off not working for a bunch of losers.

You get paid for what you work. If you didn't have a contract they can fire you for having blue eyes. You want rights at work? Organize.

Yes, most places have probationary periods of 3, 6, or 12 months. If you don't train fast enough or cause disharmony among other workers they would want to get ride of you.

Depends if it is a right to work state. Most employees serve "at will" meaning that you can be terminated at any time for any reason.

Yes, and No. Most places have a 90 day probation period. You need to sit down with the supervisor and request a detailed list of things you can "work on" so this does not happen in the future. You may find that some of your behaviors are inappropriate for the job site. You may also find a sympathetic ear and it is possible they may find a place for you. If not the education will be well worth the questions. Do not get an attitude listen ask questions and learn from the experience. You may also ask for the chance to resign so it will not look bad for future employment.

Most companies have a "probationary period", which means they can hire you and fire you whenever they please within that time frame. With retail it is usually 90 days, some companies (accounting for instance) give you up to one year. Also, you are only entitled to compensation if your rights are violated regarding union dues or membership. Here is the link to the NC Labor Regulation.

Your situation is what we call an "At-Will" work environment. What this means is that you can be hired or fired for no reason. All states are subject to the "At-Will" clause except Montana. Here is the link to the At-Will laws.
