Unfortunately, your husband has been scammed. Demand and paternity test and don't pay her another cent. When the paternity test comes back and proves he's not the father, he should file criminal charges against her and sue her in civil court.

Better go check and see if he is the father or not.
Some women will point the finger and go oh hes the daddy so hes gonna pay.
I sure know I wouldnt be paying for any kid that isnt mine but if it was my kid that it would have a roof over its head and food on the table.

Sounds too fishy to me. It's true, why wait all this time to bring this up. Since your husband was paying her under the table for two years the courts might look at this as his admission of paternity. If there is any doubt, he should stop paying her and wait it out. In the meantime, it would be a wise decision for your husband to see an attorney himself. Just her bringing up the fact that she knows it will be a hardship for him is also suspect. She probably can't afford an attorney either and so she is hoping her comments will scare you into paying her. Blackmail is a felony. I would let her know that. Do not have any more contact with her and BTW, change your phone number and have it unlisted.

Press the issue and make this woman prove that your husband really is the father of her baby, if she has a child at all, before you pay her any more money.
However, if you do go to court and the child is your husband's he will most likely be ordered to pay child support at least until the child is 18.

You always have the option to retain your own lawyer and move for a paternity test, also i will assume he is not on the birth certificate?
Might as well find out, instead of playing this game, make it legal, on child support your state will have a formula, but there is no getting around that if the child is his he will have to pay support

Well first of all STOP paying her.
Has he seen the baby? The baby might not even exist at all, and your husband would have been shelving out money for however long for HER living expenses, which would explain why she does not want to get the paternity test, because there is no test to give. Ever thought of that?
Good luck though honey :)

This is probably going to sound stupid, but why not go public and go on a talk show ("Oprah," Montel," etc.) for a paternity test? Then when you know for sure you can decide how to handle the situation.
