I have seen bikers get ticketed. Skateboarders usually are doped out of their mind whereas, bikers aren't.

Because bikes don't ruin or damage property. Skateboards do.

You never see skaters that look like they are actually trying to get anywhere on skateboards......unlike people on bikes.

not to sound like a hardass but skaters do kindof support the sterotype given to them.

Not trying to stereotype, but look who causes a lot of the damged property and other petty crimes.
Skateboarders tend to tear stuff up and cause problems. To include late at night noise.
Where the police get more involved is when the citizens ( poeple who look at you like you march to a beat of a different drum, and don't like you) of the town constantly complain to the police chief about these skateboarders. The chief has no choice, but to order the police officers to maintain strict order within the skateboarders because of all the complaints.
Find a place where you and the police can have neautral ground, where you won't cause problems, get complaints, and can prove to the police that you are not a problem.

We are under orders from our chief of police to confiscate ANY wheeled vehicle being driven on the sidewalks. Skateboards are illegal on roads. Bikes are legal and must follow the same rules as a driver would. Skateboards have no brakes, so if someone were to open a glass door in your way you would probably crash through it.

Because skateboarders usually roll out into traffic without warning, and make ugly hood ornaments.

They are an easy target. Would a police officer rather go out and chase dangerous criminals and drug dealers, or tell a couple of skaters to move along? Everyone is a little lazy.
I am not a skater, but I do support a skater's right to skate if done responsibly. Citys that have an abundance of skaters out on the streets should build a public skate park or at least attract private investors to build one. Skaters are stereotyped, just like everyone else, by the strongest personality types and actions of that group. Unfortunate, really...

The people on skate boards that are being harassed by the cops are the same people that are on other people's property causing damage. Even if the property is just "sitting there", it still belongs to someone and they didn't work hard just so someone else could damage it. Additionally skate boarding on someone else's property lends them to a certain level of liability.

Yo, check all these misconceptions about skaters and skateboarding. Yo, I'm the first to admit it damages property, cuz I will back tail a ledge or two, but the $h!t is just sitting there anyway.
Mad heads are on some "insurance" $h!t, but there's no way a skateboarder would try to sue a property owner over some frivilousness like that. Anti-frivilous laws exist anyway, so heads are just trying to milk a dead cow.
Yo, and for anyone thinking bikes don't cause damage to property, go check those BMX fools grinding $h!t down on their pegs. They ruin spots like what.
I don't know when people are gonna get over that negative stigma attached to skating. The only good thing to come from the corporatization of the skateboard industry is that people are recognizing how legit it is. Anyone who thinks otherwise is sleeping.
