When you have your right to possess a gun taken away because you have committed a crime, but already own guns?

you purchased them before you committed the crime, like domestic violence, what does the government do? come into your house and rummage through your stuff and find your guns and take them away? Do they sell them and give you the refund? Are you obligated to tell where you hid them? Or is it retroactive like that at all? if you have 10 handguns at home and kill your wife with one of them, get sentenced to life in prison, but get parolled in 10 years, do you get to keep the other 9 when you get out?

Depends on what state you are in. In general Federal law prohibits convicted felons from owning,possessing firearms.Most states have a law similar to the federal law. Yes if you are convicted of a felony you are required to get rid of all your firearms. In the state of Texas ,5 years after the completion of your sentence, you may own and possess firearms on your own property. Even then Federal government could charge you with felon in possession of a firearm. However the federal government will usually leave these people alone and use the right to prosecute only if they are involved an illegal activity such as distribution of drugs.

If you commit a crime and you lose your guns there must be a weapons prohibition order in place. The onus is on you to surrender all firearms that you may possess. Even after coming out of prison you may still be under prohibition as part of a porole condition.

When you lose your guns, you do NOT get any money for them ! You turn in ALL firearms, period. If you play silly games, you're looking at hard time.

No you cannot keep any guns ever, regardless of the situation and timeline. Once you are a felon, you cannot be posession of any firearms. It is a federal law, and if you get caught you will get anywhere from 2-5 years in prison, just for having them in your posession. The charge is simple stated "Felon in posession of a firearm".
