I live in Aus and the thought that you get a ticket for truancy is bizarre!!!
Let alone going to jail for a ticket.
Here, if you dont pay a ticket then the sherrfis will come and take some of your proeprty to pay for the ticket.
If you don't pay the ticket they issue a bench warrant for your arrest. This means that if the police don't come looking for you the next time a cop checks your information you will return with a warrant and be taken to jail.
It depends on the jurisdiction as to how long you stay in jail. You will likely have to face a judge and resolve the charge before being released. It's much easier just to pay it.
That would depend of the State you live in, and if it is you first offense or not, on my first offense skipping school I didn't get a ticket, I was taken home and my parents were informed of my behavior, they were fined and I got community service.
