Should London Taxi drivers be prosecuted when they deliberately cause an obstruction?

Well there is a simple solution to this, every time they do this, boycott them!!! 1 day per each hour they protested. If you can get enough people to do it they ( the taxi drivers) will feel it where it hurts the most. Their wallets!!!

Yes they should be prosecuted. As should anybody if they break the law. In addition all who cause a deliberate obstruction to the highway should have their PCO licences withdrawn. Why should they be allowed to get away with it?

I may sound cruel but almost everyone is effected by the current economic downturn. The usage of taxis is greatly effected by the economy because for many they are often an unnecessary expense and one of the first things on the list to be cut when there is a money shortage.

There have always been ups and downs in the taxi industry: times when there is lots of money to be earned and quiet times. It is common knowledge that every August the streets of London become relatively quiet and jobs become sparse; the same goes for January when many are broke and hungry; conversely in November and December it can be hectic and taxi drivers can earn lots. The same goes on most Friday and Saturday nights when taxis are in great demand but on Monday morning there might be nothing. Taxi drivers ought to be aware of this and be able to take the rough with the smooth.

Most taxi drivers work on a self employed basis. With self employment comes responsibility. When times are good and earnings are up it is not a "licence to spend"; money needs to be set aside for expenses and for unforeseen circumstances ie, the "rainy days". And drivers need to go out and work when there is work, ie "make hay when the sun shines".

Everybody is effected to some extent by the recession. Taxi drivers should accept this and stop picking on the private hire drivers who are effected just as much.
