Besides the innocent jean charles Menendez, the Brazilian assinated by the Met in London, and coads of other all over the Uk,how is it that no officer is ever brought to account and since John stalker(who was gagged)'til the present Cressida Dick,a shoot to kil ask-questions- later is in operation all ober the UK,despite an apparent unarmed police force lol.Tell me the last time a cop was indicted and convicted of an assasination in the UK and then compare the figures of how many innocent people have been killed in Uk?Can anyone advise me of what is going on in this once great British police force?

If menendez was so innocent, why did he run from armed police?

I remember the Barry Prudom manhunt. All our local force had loaded handguns. One policeman, Ken Oliver, was shot so the rest were not going to take any chances.

Live by the sword, die by the sword. Don't carry a gun.

I didn't know it was government policy to kill people because they are illegal immigrants. This killing was a complete botch up by the Intelligence Services.

The police don't shoot to kill... they shoot to stop...big difference!!! The fact that no officer has been convicted of murder tends to suggest that the officers had an honestly held belief that there was a threat to life which caused them to shoot.

The UK has probably one of the lowest number of death rates by police shootings.

The Brazilian chap was a completely different scenario and yes mistakes were made. It wasn't the fault of the officers pulling the trigger but the intelligence operatives and commanders.

well there are far fewer killings by police than in probably any other country.. and that's definitely due to the fact that most police don't carry guns. With this trigger happy lot, they'd halve the population if given water pistols!

having said that, I think a shoot to kill policy is sometimes necessary, but the menendez case was just an accumulation of the entire nation's anger boiled up in one bunch of hasty cops. We do need a few cops with guns- the whole "stop or I'll say stop again!!" thing doesn't always work

but i do think they should somehow give these guys some kind of outlet

EDIT omg alex.. the guy was heading for a tube. in the morning. everyone runs! they confirmed that it was not even the guy they were meant to be following!

The Truth - The truth is that Charles was actually GUILTY, of being an illegal immigrant. This does not justify him being killed, but if he was not here illegally, he would not have been killed. Stop trying to justify your obvious hate of the police with such a lame example.

We don't have an 'apparent' unarmed police force. It is not policy for all police officers to carry arms but we do police firearm units with highly skilled marksmen subject to very strict controls.
I am not aware of 'loads' of 'assassinations'. The British police force remain one of the mostly highly respected and well trained enforcement agencies in the world.
