How do I become a police officer with a dog?

So, when I get older, I plan on becoming a cop. But I dont wanna be a regular cop, I want one with a dog. So I was wonder how do I do it, what do you have to do to become one. Do you need college or a special like degree or something like that.

You have to go to college to become a police officer first!
Then you need to attend a police academy
Then after you are certified as a police officer apply at the Police department of your choice.
You will need to be a uniformed police officer for a probationary time... (depends on PD qualifications)
Then after you are a cop for the probationary time you can apply with the K-9 unit!
After applying if accepted you will have to complete rigorous field training with your dog...

Military experience is better than a criminal justice degree. You can be a cop with both, but you will be trusted, and probably liked more, with military experience

Hespo Answers is correct, you do need to be a police officer first. Your education level will vary from department to department though. Some only require a H.S diploma, whereas others require a college degree. After being a police officer for (in most cases) a minimum of 5 years, you can apply for the position of K9 handler.
