Family receiving mail at my address, but does not live there.?

I have a few family members using my address, however, they do not live there. Here is the issue. One of them has been out of work and unable to pay their bills. A couple of the people they owe have been trying to serve them at my address. I was not home either time, however, my neighbors are saying that "I" should pay my bills! I am so upset!
I have been told to send the mail back informing the bill collectors that this person does not live at this address, nor is this person known. Will this stop these bills from coming? I was also told to contact the law office that is sending the person to my address with the summons in an attempt to have this person stop providing false information to my neighbors (I owe money that I am being sued for). I have not received a call back as of yet. I left a message for the lawyer's office to call me regarding this issue. Was I correct to do this?

Im sure they will call you back, and if anybody came knocking on your door and discussed any debt you may have or anyone living with you has I believe that COULD fall under deprivation of charecter, I would contact an attorney and think of the possibility of suing. The people who are serving you probably wont stop if the individual they are trying to obtain money from resides at your address, however, if the person doesnt live at your address, I would at harresment to to the list of reasons to sue them/

ok, first thing first, DONT OPEN THAT MAIL NO MATTER WHAT!!
that is a federal offence an you can get in major trouble for that, if mail EVER comes to ur home an it dont have ur name on it, write on the front of the letter.... "return to sender,no one by this name resides here" then leave it for the mail man to take back or put it in a mail box for them to pick up, an also "DONT THROW THE MAIL IN GARBAGE" its also a felony to throw someone elses mail into the trash!! you jus cant touch it other than "return to sender it," another to try is to go to ur local post office an take a piece of the mail wit you an giv it to em an tell em these people dont live at my address, an they a put a hold on all mail with that name an they wil do the work of writin the return to sender stuff for you. good luck

Simply write "Not At This Address" on the mail and leave it for the postman to pick up. Write a letter to the "bill collector" stating that you will sue for slander and libel if they do not stop telling your neighbors that you owe unpaid bills.
