Was your purse big enough to conceal a marijuana plant or anything else that was named on the search warrant? If so, that was a legal search. If not, it was not a legal search, and anything they found in your purse could not be used against you in a criminal prosecution.
Simply put, if a location or item could reasonably conceal what was listed on the warrant, then the warrant gives them the right to search for it. For example, if they had a warrant to arrest a person, they have to right to enter and search a closet, because a person could hide in a closet. They wouldn't have the right to search a jewelry box, because no human could possibly fit inside a little box.
If they had a warrant to search for a bottle of pills, they could look just about anywhere for it, because it's small enough to be hidden anywhere.

Eh of course there are several. The best being to identify the rightful owner of the lost property, that they may return it. Did they find something they shouldn`t have? They can also get a way with a lot under the "reasonable suspicion" which covers a multitude of sins.

They don't need for you to be present to search your purse if it was on the property for which a warrant was obtained.
Probably best not to give them a reason to obtain search warrants for your property - or to hang out with people that are likely to have warrants executed upon them.

Actually not specific laws but court precedents and interpretation or parts of the US Constitution are involved.
If they have a search warrant for the property and what they are searching for can be within the purse on the property there is no question they have the legal right to search the purse or anything else that may contain cannabis.

if your purse was on the property in which they had the warrant to search they had the right to search it. Also they may not even need thewarrantt if it was open and if there was Marijuana in side or any other form of illegalsubstancee because if they can see it falls under the plane view doctrinen.
