Yes you can really go to Juvie for skipping school. There are a lot of things that it depends on, but usually if there is still a refusal to comply then you will be put in juvie to be "forced" to go to school.

Ditch once or twice, and you won't get much more than a detention. Start to make a habit out of it, and yeah, you will spend some time behind bars. You've really got to f-things up, though.

Well in my friend's case yes you can. In my school if you ditched 18 times for sure you go to court excused or unexcused the first time in court they give you just a warning if you go the second time either house arrest or juvie Depends on how often you ditch

First of all, we need to get a few terms straight:

Truancy is a "Status" offense, which means it is an offense only because it is illegal based on a person's status as a minor. If you were an adult, you cannot be truant.

Juvenile Delinquent offenses are those that would be crimes if committed by an adult.

"Juvie" could mean different things, but it usually refers to secured detention, or jail for juveniles. Secured detention is a place where the doors are locked and you can't go out unless a guard or officer unlocks the door AND only when the facility is ordered to let you out by a judge.
***********

Status offenders can't go right to juvenile detention, even if they have to go to Court after they have been charged with juvenile delinquency as a result of their truancy. They have to be given a "Written Warning of Consequence" that warns them that, if they continue to be habitually truant, the Court can place them in secured detention, including a possible sentence to the state Department of Correction youth facility (in other words, prison for juveniles.)

Status offenders can be put in unsecured detention without a written warning of consequences.

If you won't go to school on your own, the Court can put you someplace where you will be forced to go to school.
