Why did i get a ticket for Display of Plates(VC 5200) but my license plate is clearly displayed in windshield?

2009-05-29 19:18:01 +0000	Unfortunately, that is the law. You need to have the plates where they can be visible by the officer & red light cameras. I received the same ticket & after I mounted the plates & went to court, all I had to pay was a $10 fix it ticket fee & I was on my way. 2009-05-29 20:32:09 +0000	I know of no place that displaying a plate in a window is valid. Read your own quote, where it says "attached". How do you bolt a licence plate to a windshield anyway? As far as the bumper goes, there are other options, depending on the vehicle. If your car is older, and has an actual upright grill, you can use a bracket on that. That keeps it upright, and properly visible. Newer cars don't have that option because of the streamlining, which leaves only the bumper. Give it up, I have been driving 43 years, and people have been trying this argument unsuccessfully as long as I remember. The window is just plain not considered a place to display a licence plate. If you can show you are just waiting for the body shop appointment to repair the car, a magistrate may toss the ticket. Velcro is a pretty poor substitute for a proper mount. Your plate is highly likely to be stolen. The law is pretty clear. Now, there is another option for the law. They can get annoyed and issue you another ticket for having something on the windshield that impairs your vision. Besides, if you have an accident, especially a roll-over, that flying plate is deadly, it can slice your jugular quicker than you can say "fudge". Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

(a) When two license plates are issued by the department for use upon a vehicle, they shall be attached to the vehicle for which they were issued, one in the front and the other in the rear.
