Apply for a spousal visa, provide proof that you have known each other for at least 2 years, proof of income and accommodation.
It is a very easy process, no need to pay for a lawyer

process it yourself.
The UK process is simple and straight forward.
(a lot less complicated than the US one)

Lawyers and legal representation do not influence the decision as such.
In the rare case where there are complicating factors, then yes, a well presentede complete and coherent argument may assist.. but it is the facts of the case and evidence that are assessed.
Not met anyone who has used a lawyer yet and failed because if it (lack of supporting documents - yes), though the odd person who has paid and believed it made a difference.

Follow the process at the uk.gov websites (not any copy ones).
They are looking for
- proof that you are genuinely together
- have been so
- have the funds/employment to survive
- one of you (at least ) has the natural right to be in the UK.
[ as an EEA right or as a UK national ]

Do the process of the fees only..
anything else is a waste of your resources.

The process and forms are here
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/partnersandfamilies/partners/ - Partner entry
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/ukresidency/settlement/applicationtypes/ SET(M) settlement

(do read the guidance notes, and those for later settlement, if you need a later visa in 2 years time, as you need to be collecting eveidence along the way)
