UK Visa application may get denied?
|
I submitted my passport to get a UK visa to a third party broker whose suppose to have it expedited since my departure date is November 27, 2009.
My question...I submitted all required documets e.g; roundtrip airline itinerary, all accomodations confirmation, and bank statements, and a letter stating why I need to be back at a certain date because of school...
So, the lady who's handling my papers called me back today saying that they may not approve my visa because I dont have enough in my bank account (3k). So, she suggested I get a letter from my school stating when I need to be back etc.
Now, what are the chances of UK denying my visa after all these documents have been submitted except for the letter from my school?
Im really frustrated now cos my departure date is in less than a month...what should I do?

sorry.. if they are a visa agency, they should not have put the application in, unless they knew it would be 100% OK. In the UK the only benefit of an agency is, that they get all the important facts correct before they put the application in. The agency itself gets no benefit/priority over a normal application (so not sure what expedited service they think they are providing unless it is the post of the passport back to you at the end).
It is 'you' who are applying, not the agency.
It really should be their job to check the essentials are there, or warn you/get you to accept the risk based on their knowledge and experience (of other refusals.. .where applicants have gone against their advice).
3K in the bank account will not necessarily be a problem IF you have shown other income that will support you in the UK and it was clear that it was a temporary problem (there is usually more there on your statements). It is you ability to support yourself that is important (to the UKBA) not your school attendance (sorry..I appreciate that it is probably frustrating)
What to do now ?
- submit extra information on ability to pay, and ask if the agency can add that to the submission/have it ready if it is queried.
- talk to the UKBA directly about you application (you use your passport number as a reference), though they prefer to allow several weeks before they get enquiries.. as normal processing takes time to check.
- If it gets rejected, then appeal with the extra information.
But for now, you just have to wait.
and next time... do it yourself ;) you really don't need an agency to collect papers (the ones in the guidance notes) and put them in an envelope. Though I can see that with the systems changing, they may have a clearer understanding at the moment, than reading all the new forms (that said UKBA help line can help)

see page 11 and 12, there are some transitional arrangements in place..

and get the School to assist ?
and you can always talk to the UKBA directly (they are quite helpful/ friendly)

Did she ask for more money as well?
Ring the British Embassy & find out what's happening with your application - it's actually a better idea when you apply for a visa to do the work yourself, that way you have more control & you learn how the system works.
If your visa has been denied then ask them on what grounds & what you need to do. Since you've paid an agency to do the work, let them finish the job but next time do it yourself.

The agency should have told you that getting the airline ticket before your visa is processed is, absolutely not the thing to do. As a matter of fact, the instructions that came with the visa application clearly states not to make travel plans until after your visa is approved.
You are dealing with an unscrupulous booker/agency. Any fees you have paid, including the monies paid for transportation will be lost,in the likely event your visa is denied.
Next time do it yourself.

If there is ANY way for them to deny your visa, they will. They are in the business of keeping people out, not helping them get in. If I were you I would get the letter from my school.

Assuming it's a visitors visa you are applying for, it is standard to provide a letter from your school confirming that you are a student, the course you are studying and its start and finish dates, the dates of the vacation during which you are travelling and the date you are expected to return to school.
How long is your trip? £3K should be sufficient funds to maintain yourself for several weeks.
It sounds to me as though this broker is not experienced in handling UK visas and is using the money issue as an excuse to request further paperwork from you that should have been submitted with the initial application.
Read the link below for more info on required documentation.
