It looks like you need to go to NZ within 3 months of being granted the permit:

Now, NZ likely wouldn't know about your overstay in the US. But you'd better be careful because since your overstay was illegal, this could jeopardize your stay in NZ if they do find out. The granting of the visa was made with the belief that the applicant was of a good character. This being said, they probably could only find out if you told them. Now I know some countries share information -- such as the US and Canada, but I do not know if NZ and the US share information.
Basically, there's no web site that can confirm if you will be refused entry or not. This is because entry is at the discretion of every immigration officer. It all depends on what you say to them. But if you have a legal visa, there is no reason for them to question you. You just have to take your chances.

Because of your extreme overstay in the US, I doubt that they would even consider allowing you to come back in. I do not know about New Zealand and their rules.

You'll have a ban on entering the US after you leave...but you can of course leave...please do. If you voluntarily want to leave, nobody will hold you back. I don't think you overstaying in the US has anything to do with your NZ work permit.
