If President Obama's aunt gets a green card, will others be mad after waiting years?

2009-02-07 14:10:47 +0000	If anyone who has been waiting for a green card for years does NOT get upset in the event Obama's aunt gets a quickie green card ahead of them as a result of her nephew being the President, then they are out to lunch and haven't fully recognized it's not supposed to work that way in America, and they SHOULD be upset. That being said, it would not surprise me at all if Obama's aunt DID get a green card ahead of others due to her nephew being the President. If and when she does, I intend to HOWL about it because this would be the kind of favoritism and abuse of power that Obama campaigned against and promised to fight if elected. He may be falling into the common pattern of many politicians believing secretly that there are supposedly two sets of rules: Those for the general public and then those for privileged few in public office who make the rules. I have a family member in public office and it infuriates me when she vigorously applies the laws to others but when it comes to her own case, she doesn't want to be held accountable. This is deplorable, arrogant, and inexcusable. I'm just glad that in the case of President Obama and his aunt needing a green card, the media has jumped on the story so we can pump a little sunshine up Obama's skirt if he tries to pull special favors for his own family. We're already starting to see some of that spirit of favoritism for Obama's own with the billions of earmarks he has put into his Stimulus (Spending) Package to essentially pay off and reward his friends who helped get him elected (e.g. the ACORN group). He talks the talk. Now let's all do what we can to make him walk the walk. Thanks for your post. 2009-02-07 13:58:28 +0000	It would seem that by this time he would have advised her to take steps to legalize her stay in the U.S. Perhaps he could have sponsored her. He is really in a dilemma now. 2009-02-07 14:37:16 +0000	It doesn't take "years" to get a Green Card if you have skills America needs, or relatives who are US citizens.
