How and Why are all these Middle East/Asian Immigrants opening stores in our country?
I notice that it is mainly in the low income communities,I have nothing against foreigners but this is something that I have been concerned about for a while. It's like we,American People, have to go through alot just to open up a store but these guys can just run up into a community, buy an empty lot,and start up a gas station in an instant. And its not just that, its plenty of other places as well.Plus, half the time they barely speak and good English. And their items are really overpriced, even when they know that the people in that neighborhood are poor and can't afford such crap. And the service is bad...often. Though,i feel that all should be welcome to make money here, why does it seem like they have an easier time doing it than those who have been here all their life, trying to make something out of it.I'm not trying to single out one certain minority group but they majority of these "business"owners are from that region of the world. Do they get like special grants or something ??? Please explain this to me.Thank you !

Surprisingly enough, I am impressed by these people's gumption and hard work.

DC is full of small stores, in very bad areas, run by Koreans. They open stores in such bad areas even the blacks and hispanics won't open stores there.

People assume I'm a racist, but I'm not. I love my Korean immigrants, who work so hard. Their children always do well in school, and mostly end up in college.

The Ethiopian and Eritrean immigrants are similar.

I welcome these hard workers and hold them out as an example of what immigrants to America should do.

As to the money they use to open stores, often this comes from cultural affiliations and organisations, which give seed money to others of their race, but which needs to be paid back.

They get no freebies, we just don't see what goes on behind-the-scenes.

They open stores because they are pursuing the American dream like everyone else. And they don't get a free pass when it comes to adhering to all the local laws and ordinances that regulate small businesses. They don't get any kind of special grants. They save their money and become their own bosses. Give it a shot. You can do it too. Scrimp and save for about ten years and you'll soon have enough money to buy your own business too. And if you don't like the service and prices that you get in these small stores, don't give them your money. Those stores will soon go out of business if enough people walk past them. That's how the free market works.

I wish I could explain it to you, but I've been wondering about it myself. I really don't know what they have to do to open their businesses, so I won't comment on that; but, I do notice they open their shops in the poorer neighborhoods. The only reason I could think of to explain that would be because the richer neighborhoods tend not to have the types of convenience stores that they run.

Same thing happens in Europe. In Spain where there´s an agreement between shops that Sundays you don´t open nor you do during lunch hours ( Mon. - Fri. from 2 to 5 ) under the risk of getting a penalty, immigrant shops open but the police don´t go after them even if they´re breaking the law.

It´s very suspicious. There must be mafias behind all this so they get permission from the Government.

Interesting enough, many shop owners complain about this, but they still don´t change their Medieval schedules, that is, How are they goin to skip the siesta! How r they going to work on Sundays?

Seems like Middle East and Asian immigrants really have a plan.

I won´t live forever so I don´t care. The world will always be the world and I may die tomorrow. Whatever that works for anyone.
