Emigration check required or not required?
I got my passport in sep'2008 in Chennai passport office.
When I was applying for passport I submited my 10th marks certificate.
My qualification is B.Tech in ComputerScience(but I did not attached this certificate while applying).
I'm woking in a software comapny now.
My passport's 2nd page does not have Emigration Check details, it is a blank(visa) page. Do I need to get the ECNR stamp on my passport?
Although an ECNR stamp is reqd or else it can create verification delays while you have to venture outside country but i was told by the man at the counter while i was getting my PP renewed this month that ECNR check has been waivered by the Govt but u need to produce a proof and a self-attested photocopy of your degree will suffice...i suggest you check with your local PP office about the nitty-gritties involved lest it creates problems later (NB -carry orig+p/copy of degree and your PP along )
Getting the ECNR is a simple 1 day process. go to the passport office with ur degree certificate and get this endorsement in your passport. u can get it done the same day itself
The ECNR stamp is no longer required and since no mention has been made in the passport about this,you will have no problem on this count whenever you decide to travel overseas.
