I'm getting married to an American citizen this September, my visa is expiring in November. Do I need to apply for a visa? I don't want to apply for the fiancee visa because I would have to leave the country for a month and I am in school.

Just think about getting married then after you will have to consult with immigration on your
change in status in America.

IF you are here on an F-1 that is expiring in November, you can marry and then apply for adjustment of status using forms I-130 & I-485 simultaneously. Do be sure to see an attorney about this before November. If your I-130 and I-485 receipt has not arrived before then, you will be out-of-status and USCIS has been known to throw a snit about this unless you return to your home country and return on a K-3 visa.

What you need to apply for is permanent residence. The primary forms are I-130 and I-485. For them and instructions see uscis.gov.
