It makes no sense to try to cancel your work visa. Technically, you do not put your work visa to further use and it is rendered as good as cancelled.
Also, the embassy will not refund your fee that was charged for the visa at the time of issuance. So why take the trouble ? Just let the visa expire, if you are not going to Qatar to work any more.
