Offer them a sworn affidavit from the cousin and a close family member.

If they want more than that, tell her to bring in the TV remote. That should satisfy them.

Here in the Philippines you can go to NOS "National Statistics Office" and get a cemomar which shows that you are single and if your not in the Philippines check the country he/she lives and find the same kind of office or go to to local municipality and have them submit a certified letter that he/she is not married. Hope this helps

where is your cousin from ? and where is he located ? he can have an attested document from his original country (notorized ) to prove that indeed he has never been married before
tell him to get in touch with his country of origin or an embassy to receive that document .
court house , city records etc .
