The State Department Operations Center has set up the following number for Americans seeking information about family members in Haiti: 1-888-407-4747 (due to heavy volume, some callers may receive a recording).
So, call the Ops Center. I guarantee you the folks at the embassy will be impossible to reach. make sure you have the names, dates of birth, passport numbers and whatever contact information you may have for your team. also contact info for the US, including their immediate family members. so when you call, be ready to tell them whatever you can. otherwise, you'll end up having to call back.
