For the USA, it depends on where you're from and how long you intend to stay. If you're from Western Europe, Japan, Canada, or Australia you don't need a visa for short trips - you just have to fill out a quick eligibility form online and you're good to go. See http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/without/without_1990.html for details.
No clue about Brazil and Argentina.

For sure originally, you had best pick any various Argentina, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you better actually undergo with it once it has been decided upon
