How can I adopt a 5 year old little boy as my nephew. I want to be able to have him call me as his auntie. But he feels left out. How can I not have him be left out. I already have a niece. And I feel that if my niece calls me auntie than Joshua should have the right as well.

If you adopt..you are the legal mother...having him call you "auntie" is not only weird but selfish.

I know how he feels. Kids can (like I did when I was little) get jelous of their siblings who know thier parents and know all their relatives care that they exist.
I agree with you there though but don't force him to call you auntie. Get down on his level (when u are alone with him) and say "Joshua, you know I love you and you know you can call me auntie if you want, right?"
Normally the child will throw their arms around you...at least that's how it went with me and my bio sister when I first met her. She kept calling me 'you'. I told her that I was her sister. She didn't realize that until I said something.

You can't legally adopt a "nephew," but there's no reason you can't have him call you Auntie. Does he already have a godmother? Maybe his parents would let you be his godmother, which can be a very close relationship.

all my friends kids call me auntie brookie... and i grew up calling all my moms friends auntie... its just a normal thing to do... is this child a friends kid or is it a step or adopted child of your sibling....

My best friend's little girl calls me Aunt and my son's friend calls me mom. I am not blood related to these kids, but I might as well be. So even if you aren't blood he can still call you aunt.

well why not have him call you auntie? I don't think that you really need to "adopt" him to have him call you this? If you are close then let him..I have friends that are close with me and my kids and we call them "auntie (name)".
