Adoption baby? Just a question>>>>>?

Me and hubby wwere wanting to adopt a child to call our own, but why
is it so expensive? During my research they tell me it could cost
between 10=20k. If there are so many children without parents why
does the system make it so hard for us to adopt, wouldnt it be in the
interest of the children to make it easier. If its so expensive parents
are turned off to adopt. Is it easier to adopt in other countries like
Mexico?

I was adopted and so was my sister and it is Very expensive. My parents spent over 30k in the process of adopting me (including air-fair, renting car, hotels, lawyer fees, hospital fees etc..b.c i was born in louisiana but live in nyc) - but this was 20 years ago..also as far as i know caucasian babies tend to be the most expensive....i think it's cheaper to adopt from russia and other european countries
And if you want a newborn it is also more expensive.
In my opinion it is too expensive- but many couples don't have any other options (supply and demand). Also if babies were really cheap and the adoption process was fairly easy the babies might not be going to people who really want to give the baby the best life possible...it's like the idea of a man buying an expensive engagement ring- it's not really logical but investment shows commitment

It doesn't have to cost anything. If you adopt a foster child from welfare it is free. These are the children who really need it. It only means you have to do more research and perhaps be prepared to deal with some further issues in terms of their background etc but it's better than adopting a child that really didn't need to be adopted in the first place.

Red tape. If you are really set on adopting a baby, then it will cost that much, if not more. Lawyers fees, fees to the agency, the list goes on.
As others have suggested, foster to adopt isnt pricey at all. Normally, i dont suggest it, because in some cases, people want babies, but those children need homes too.My father was sent to a foster home after his father died, and it was hell for him, as noone wanted an older child(he was 14). Foster to adopt, you'll more likely get an older child. But they are in need.

Because there are NOT "so many (babies) without parents" waiting to be adopted. And it's not about the "best interests of the children". It's about what's best for the adults who are buying...er...adopting & what's best for the baby brokers.
It's costly to convince a young, single, scared mom to hide the birth of her child from the child's father & then relinquish her child to strangers (even to strangers she's "chosen"). And the people who work diligently to GET babies for people like you & your husband must get PAID for their efforts.
It's easier to falsify papers that say mothers' are willingly giving up their children in countries like Mexico, Guatemala, Korea & others where adoption corruption is rampant. Check the US Govt.'s website on international adoption. At least you won't have to worry as much about your adopted little darling one day looking for his or her 1st family! {{sarcasm}

Educate yourself & be as prepared as possible. Raising adopted children is not the same as raising biological children.
Good luck!

I feel the reason its so expensive is Children=Buisness-Money WHAT A SHAME only the rich can give a child love I also feel it should not be about the money this is why baby stealing goes on if it was not a Business and there was no profit in selling a beautiful child there would be alot less baby stealing going on Everyone can offer a child love it doesn't take money to love a child and until threes some type of change everyone ends up being losers

The children who actually need homes are not that pricey. When you go through an agency, you're buying a newborn. The children who truly need homes, the ones who don't already have perfectly good parents who have been convinced that they're just not good enough, are in foster care. In most states, it costs nothing to adopt through foster care. You might not get a brand new baby, but then I'm sure you know that adoption is supposed to be about finding homes for children who need them...not finding the perfect child for adults who want one.

Simple. Because it's NOT a social service for children as it should be. It's a multi billion dollar business that feels the need to market to teenagers etc to obtain the product for the customer.
Don't buy into the unethical way America practices adoption. Social services is the way to go to give a home to a child who genuinely needs one, instead of paying someone to obtain one for you by exploiting a 'situation'

It's expensive unless you belong to a church that has a adoption agency then it goes on your income. This is the same adoption agency that tried there best to hid my grandson and steal him only it backed fired on them, My grandson cost the church, adoption agency, social worker and couple around 1 million dollars. You would think that they would think twice before doing it again but they haven't. I guess there members don't mind paying for there mistakes. I would hope more people would adopt out of the foster program there are alot of children that really could use some parents there. But most adopted couples want a new born.

If you go through your local department of social services, the costs are very minimal. My husband and I are going through the process now. We paid for a driving record, TB tests, and fingerprints. Total cost of that was around $30.00. I hope this helps.
