Is it illegal or unsafe to drive with Crocs on?
I've never been one for shoes, but the closest I've come is Crocs, and I know driving barefoot is illegal, and driving in flipflops is unsafe, but do crocs chalk up anywhere on that chart?

(For those who don't know, Crocs are those airy rubber shoes with the holes in them which you wear without socks. Those who don't know probably shouldn't answer this I'm assuming, lol)

I've never worn them, the question is if they support the bottom of your foot at least as well as sneakers ( deck shoes/Nikes/Air Jordans for you youngsters.)

Yes, there are a lot of places you have to wear shoes to drive...especially around resorts with sandy beaches, they have local laws.

Also, if you are male, and the girl with you is 16 or less, she MUST be wearing her shoes.
Antique law in Michigan and a couple other places, it is statutory rape without them.

I don't get how you people do it. I don't go out of the house unless I'm wearing steel-toed shoes. I don't think I could walk 50 feet barefoot without hurting myself.

I always wear boots when riding my motorcycles, but I have worn crocs, flip-flops and even barefoot when driving cars, trucks and even my 18-wheelers. There is no law in the country against driving without shoes.

It being illegal to operate a vehicle in the US while barefoot is an urban legend. It is NOT illegal to drive barefoot in any of the 50 states.

Click on link for more information of an article on the legalities of barefoot driving:

It's definitely in no way illegal and I don't see why it would be unsafe. Girls drive in 6 inch heels lol.

Any footwear that can easily fall off your feet is unsafe for driving. I'm a sandal girl myself, but I always take my sandals off to drive. Driving a car while barefoot is _not_ illegal anywhere in the U.S., nor do any state's driving laws mention footwear in any way. You need shoes to ride a motorcycle in Alabama, but that's part of their motorcycle helmet law and doesn't apply to car drivers. In fact despite all the wives tales about imaginary laws about barefoot driving, nobody has ever actually found any such law anywhere, and a lot of careful research has been done on the subject both by AAA and by others.

i have never heard that driving barefoot is illegal. where did you get that from?? so...no. you can drive with any type of shoe. but if you feel that it affects your driving then i would say not to wear them due to safety reasons, not legal ones...

It is not illegal to drive barefoot. I have never heard such nonesense.

It is illegal to drive in ill fitting foowear that can slip or cause you to not maintain proper control of a vehicle. I would imagine that Crocs come into this category because they are a lose fitting sandal.
