Still got the tee-shirt mate.
27 notches on my rifle butt, 37 lost comrades. A complete waste of life.

If an armed force of foreign nationality lands on the continental 48, I'll pick up a couple of extra boxes of ammo and lend a hand....unofficially (I'd be just as likely to shoot my commanding officer if I joined the traditional military, free spirit that I am).

While my heart tells me that it would be wrong to fight for any reason, if someone came barging into my house, I would probably fight back.
This war to too awful and calculated to be a reactionary defense. I would stand down.

I wouldnt fight in an Iraq type situation, as thats down to politics and greed. However, if my country faced invasion, or another country threatened us with it, i would willingly fight.
However, a soldiers job and duty is to fight where and when their country demands, not to consider the morals and politics of the situation. Their countries war is their war.

No, but many 18 to 24 year olds will. They still believe the bs fear-mongering our government is feeding us.

If every soldier has to decide on his own whether orders are right or wrong, you really don't have an effective army, do you?
You, as every soldier, should know going in that you're not always going to agree with the political or social reasons that you are sent into combat. But since you volunteer your services to your country - and take an oath to that effect - you are bound to go, whether you agree or not.
Of course, if you have no honor - if you lied when you took the oath - go ahead and judge EVERY order as to whether you agree with them, not just the big ones.

Knowing my government was wrong no I wouold not go to war. But so far my government hasn't been wrong so I enlisted twice, once in the Navy (1975) and once in the Massachusetts National Guard (1980).

I would have to believe that it was to preserve the sanctity of the USA Constitution and protect the homeland. Something that we don't have now, because we would be at war with Mexico and not Iraq.
The "War on Terror" is nothing more than a fear tactic to get the masses to do what the rulers want them to do. If you get p*ssed at me for saying this then it is your sub-conscience waking and fighting with what you want to believe. Nothing more than mind games.

When you're in the military, you don't have the choice... but if you did, all I can say is that thank God not everyone is an ill informed coward like you! Regardless od Bush's "motive"... those camel jockies came into my house and killed my people! That's enough of an "excuse" for me!!!

Professional soldiers do not assume to dictate policy or fight only at their own convenience. Duty states that you fight for your country and its interests abroad even if and when you disagree with them.
