Why America didn't do something to stop the massacre in Gaza?

Heart of Darkness	Americans have no concept of the lopsided US policy that allows Israel to do whatever the heck it wants. They're not aware of the terrible acts that Israel carries out against non-Jews, while collecting billions in American taxpayer money at the same time. And then people wonder why the US was attacked on 9/11. I think it's a shame that Israeli civilians are getting killed by rocket attacks from Gaza, and now Lebanon. But like the saying goes, you reap what you sow. Palestinian civilians have been killed by the Israeli military indiscriminately for decades, so now it's Israel's turn. BTW, it DOES concern the US. When the US sends over $4 BILLION in foreign aid on a annual basis, plus all the military technology and hardware the US sends to Israel, in addition to dozens of other programs, it is every bit the business of the US government. Israel is by far, the largest receiptiant of US foreign aid than any other country. Additionally, the US is the only ally of Israel, which makes the US look terrible in the eyes of the rest of the world. I mean seriously, how can the US go about pushing the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and imposing sactions against Iran for developing nuclear arms, when Israel is not a member of the NPT, it's well known that Israel has come close to using nukes during the Six Day War and the Yom Kippur War. The Israel / Jewish lobby is the largest lobby group in the US. Then there's the Christian Fundamentalists who support Israel because of a biblical passage taken out of context that makes them believe that unconditional support of Israel is necessary for the Second Coming of Christ. As far as I'm concerned, those people aren't any different than the religious fanatics that flew the planes into the WTC and the Pentagon. Keep in mind also that the government of Israel is a religious one that incorporates a racist and religious ideology that is practically no different than the religious government in Iran (Zionism). So when you see the terrible things that are happening to the Palestinians and other problems in the Middle East, including the situation in Iraq, you can rest assured it's your tax money being put to work by Israel. John de Witt	The US has been working hard on the problem for a long, long time. Just because it didn't work doesn't mean it didn't happen. As a matter of fact, one of the US initiatives turned out to have a significant negative effect: in 2005, the US pushed hard for the elections in which it was hoped the people of the Gaza region would vote for peace. Instead they elected Hamas, who have vowed to continue to fight Israel as long as there's anybody there to fight. The Israelis withdrew from the region in hopes that it would lead to peace; instead, it led to more attacks on Israel. They've shown considerable restraint in waiting until now to do what they're doing, and considering that kids in Sderot have been shot at for years now, it's hard to see how they could continue with that situation. I grew up in a town about the size of Sderot, and my parents wouldn't have liked it much if we'd had three or four rockets or mortar bombs a day hitting our town when I was in school. In the week before the Israeli attack, Hamas leaders were pledging continued war to the end, and this week they're pledging the same. They are unwilling to compromise, so there's no position from which Israel or the US can negotiate. When Hamas are willing to compromise, Israel will once again do so, and the US will help as able. Justin R	It's about time. Hamas is a terrorist organization and they should be taken care of before they get back to the US. This needs to happen. They were shooting at Israel. If someone was shooting at your house wouldn't you do something about it? Or would you want to talk about it while they continue to shoot and kill your neighbors and family. "Ski"	Because they deserve it! The Israeli response is the normal response of what happens when the people of Gaza fire rockets into Israel on a daily basis, murdering civilians for decades. The Israelis are doing what any nation would do; protecting their people militarily after all negotiations have failed. Israel is not attacking the Arabs. Israel is counterattacking the Arabs. If the Arabs want the fighting to stop - the Arabs need to stop attacking Israel. The Arabs have started how many wars against Israel? ...and launched how many terrorist attacks into Israel? ...and murdered over 50,000 Israeli civilians! The Arabs have no right to do any of this. Israel has every right to fight back. War is the organized killing of human beings - that's what war is. The Arabs should stop starting wars with Israel. They start it again and again...they get what they ask for. Sue, it is useless to hate "war". You must direct your scorn at the people who start wars. What can you do to stop incessent Arab attacks into Israel? I don't know either. But when you have an answer, write it - and I will join you. I just don't see any way to stop people who make their own women and children unwilling targets. Israel has spent more money and invested more man-hours in Gaza to assist the Palestinians in setting up a free state than all the Arab nations combined. Israel wants to see a Palestinian state. But, that will never happen as long as Hamas, the PLO, and all the other Arab terrorist groups murder any Palestinian who tries to stop fighting Israel and just build their own society.
