Elliot Ness	What are you...in grade 2. Firstly, most people in Europe like Americans, they may not care for their politics as of late, but they like Americans. Incedently, there is much more racial hatered towards Muslims in the UK than there is in the US. Of course Europe is not afraid of America, we're allies, dumb a*s. The majority of European export goes to....America. So not only are we allies militarily, but economically as well. N.Korea doesn't count as "most of Asia", Japan are very close with the US, in fact they have more money invested in America economy than any other country, and rely on American imports and military regional presence to keep their economy and safety competetive. Australia is the largest exporter of Uranium to the US, and also relies on US military might. There is a reason countries like Japan, Canada, Australia, France, Scandinavia, S. Korea. etc don't have to spend billions on large standing armies, and can build there economies instead.....because the US spends trillions on military spending, and is allies and will defend these countries with the lives of Americans. As for WW2, everyone is on and on about coming in late and didn't save us blah, blah,blah. The American public were the ones against getting involved in a European war, they saw no need to send soldiers to defend/liberate England or western Europe, from the plauge of the German war machine. This is the case in both world wars. However, in both wars, the US did supply vast amounts of resources and logistical support, before becoming offically involved. In WW1 in fact US merchant ships were guided into shipping lanes with known heavy German U-boat activity by the English government to try and entice the US into sending much needed troops, and why were they mush needed, because after the Russian revolution the Russians pulled out of the war and freed up 100's of thousands of troops to concentrate on the Western Allied lines, which they almost broke,and it wasn't until the sinking of the Lucitainia (passenger ship) with 157 American civilians on board, that the war effort became popular in the US. In WW2, as everyone knows it was Pearl. In WW1 Americans suffered the same horrors of chemical trench warfare as the English, French, Canadians, Australians, Itailians, Spanish etc. In WW2, it was an American general (Eisenhower) that orchestrated and planned Operation Overlord (D-Day invasion), perhaps that's why some ignorant Americans think they "saved Europe", the simple fact is, there were American, Canadian, English, French, Scandinavian, soldiers dying on those beaches and in the Western Theatre, and if you ever spoke to a veteran from those wars, American or otherwise you wouldn't find one to be so presumptuous to say one country did it alone. It was a collaboration of many nations souls to provide you the freedom to spew your verbal diarrhea. Yes, the Russians also played a major role on the Eastern line. I could go on about the Pacific Theatre as well, but I will just sum it up by saying the Americans with some European scientific help (again a collaboration) developed the Atom Bomb, and saved millions of lives. Estimated casualties of invading Japan proper were in the millions. So do I agree with you.....NO! I think you should stay in school, and get off the popular Eurotard bandwagon, because you sound stupid. One other thing. there is one thing is bound by and without could not survive economically, and that is a steady and reliable supply of OIL. Everything is driven by OIL, it's what keeps you in the standard of living you are accustomed to. The simple fact is most of the oil is in the middle east, not the north sea that has been in a steady production decline since 1989. Without allied, steady governments in the middle east, your way of life would be held to ransom to a fanatics whim. Just the threat of Iran stoping production made the price of oil jump 10 dollars last summer. A 5% reduction in production will result in a 400% increase in price of oil. Just look at the oil shocks of the 70's. Even your alternative fuels are not so much alternative as derivitives of oil. Solar panel s require petroleum products to produce, farms require tractors to harvest, heavy machinery to mine for coal. etc etc. and so far nothing has the energy output of oil. And NO I'm not an American, but I do look at the whole picture. KCL: The Euro markets will not trade in oil. Iran has tried this already, not only were they put to rest by OPEC, the European markets said no thanks, too big, too volitile, too much headache. It's just more blather from America haters. LadyMoonlight!!	I'm British (Welsh not English) and I dont "hate" America. I don't agree with a lot of what Americans beleive in and say - I think their society is very capitalist and greedy and life is hell for the poor (and I hate their attitude that anyone who's poor "deserves" it because they are "lazy". I've seen way too many hard working people who still struggle to make ends meet!). I also agree with SP that the Battle of Britain was fought and won before America even got involved in the war they didn't "save our asses", it was a joint allied effort and its very arrogant for them to try to take the whole credit for it!! boozer	49 percent of Americans disliked the Iraqi fiasco, but patriotism still reigns. As an American, I do worry about how the rest of the so-called free world looks at it. DEAD	Everyone has their own ideas and opinions of the war. Yes, even the Americans. In the end, if we agree on it or not, we should support out troops. minimetro	Don't generalise - not all Americans are happy with their country's foreign policy (recent mid-term elections, for a start) or how the war on terror is going. Europe is too divided to be a match for the US militarily - look at Bosnia. S P	Whilst I dont not agree with the original poster, who is clearly a troller, I would like to point out to some of the American responders here that the Battle of Britain was actually fought and won before America joined the war. After the Battle of Britain Hitler turned his eyes to the East and no longer posed a serious threat to Great Britain, so to say, or imply America somehow 'saved' Britain is not correct. tankbuff, 19 violations so far	there are a few mistakes in your question. first England wasn't fighting anyone in the late 30's if they where there was no ww2. England and France just stood there watching while Germany ran over Austria and Poland and did nothing. if they attacked Germany while its army was in Poland Hitler would have had no chance at all . and for the aid it got from the us it was given under the lend lease agreement, where in lend lease do u see "for free"? i know a few people who don't hate Americans and they all live in Europe just like me some people are grate full that America and England are willing to stand up to treats if not them who will?? answer me that one. by the way the Internet was developed by and for the American army with help of a Belgian firm and a British gentleman who lives in America..and was first release for use by some university's and later for general use. and no I'm not a yank. wanker!!!
