Underboy	Omfg what are you guys going on a bout we are crap! usa sucks in terms of training, sure we have a big army, but it terms of TRAINING it is by far 1.Israel 2. Australia Why Israel? Because they are constantly at war and have to be trained well, as well as every single 18 year old being trained for the army.. That's right EVERY Israelian is forced to go in the army for a couple of years, so every i civilian is ready for war Australia is just keeping to themselves but i have seen them, and they are way better trained then us, bloody aussies are amazing. brian	well I would have to say america I mean think about it when a country ask's someone to train their military who is it??? CUFCLEE	UK / US forces are the best trained military you will see today,the US has power and the largest well equipped fighting force around.The UK/US learn a lot from each other and work well together.As a Brit I'm biased and it's UK all the way small but deadly,Delta force based on the SAS.I'm very proud of the British armed forces,friendly fire sadly will happen who ever you fight for,although with today's technology it shouldn't.Good luck UK/US forces. Ron B	It's really quite simple, who has the most advanced weapons systems? It requires an intelligent well-trained group of soldiers to operate and maintain state of the art equipment. Is there really anyone out there that isn't aware that the current U.S. Army is the best trained, best equipped and deadliest army in the history of the world? As has been pointed out here, the British are among the best trained in the world, and believe it or not, the Swiss Special Forces are also highly trained. American and Chinese special forces are heavily equipped but they only certain sections get trained properly (airbourne is probably the best trained in America). Was this answer helpful to you? legal student	there is no real answer to this. it depends on the situation. while the swiss might be verry well trained, thier only unit with any real service outside training excersizes are not much use. it guards the pope. the US and Chinese may have big armies, but the standard of training and the standard of recruits may be verry variable. also their equipment standards may be a bit dodgy. comunist armies are usualy equiped with lower quality equipment that is designed to last, not to perform. while the US army has gone too far the other way, and may have too much technology. smaller armies are great for smaller wars, and thier training may be much better, but they have less available firepower, due to simple maths. Also you cannot judge on the quality of specialist units such as the SAS, Delta force, ect. they reprisent the absolute pinnicle of the armys soldiers, and may be highly trained and well equiped, while other less elite units could be defeated by a troop of cub scouts (particuly my local pack, who could probably take on special forces and win) Finaly the quality of frontline forces is not neccicerily a guide, as support of the frontline is just as important. my personal vote goes to the roman army, who did better than any modern one has. Scott L	Best and best trained are very different. The Swiss COULD have th best trained (as an example, I don't think they do for a minute) but since they have exactly ZERO people with combat experience not having fought a war in recent memory I don't care how highly trained they are. I'd say the Americans for sheer size are the "best" and the Israeli's a close second followed by several other western powers (brits, french, aussies) in no particular order. The Russians were very good at one time but it's been a while. EDIT. The North Koreans are also hell on wheels. Their stuff is mostly junk but they are fanatical and will follow ANY order. Legz Akimbo	I would have to say British are the best trained, and the US the best army. I only say this because an American soldier I once spoke to said that he worked with the British, and even he said how their training was a lot better, if more difficult and harsh. utah saint	The US has the best equipped army in the world, trouble is they are poorly trained in its use, they cannot adapt because of the way they are organised. Too many sergeants and generals with little or no combat experience. The British army is the opposite i.e., poorly equipped but highly trained, with NCO's who know what they are doing. America prolly has more money invested in it's army that Britain so probably has better GI's Britain has the best Special forces, i.e. the Special Air Service, Special Boat Service, Parachute regiment to a slightly lesser extent. Jimmy R	The US has the most lethal and largest proffessional Army in the world. China is large, but most are conscripts when needed and they are not well trained. Israel is superb but small. Canada has a great Army for what they do, defend and support the country for all situations. Great Britain is by far the most proffesional army, best trained and set the standard for all Army's around the world since well before America was discovered. The UK is small, but a very powerful little Army. The US Army is the Greates army only because of its roots in Great Brittain, size and weapons technology. The American people also make the US Army the best with their support and understanding. Without American support the Army will fail. Fortunately the US, Canada, Israel and Great Britain support each other without question. Keiran S	has to be our british SAS, simply the best trained and the hardest selection course... i think its like 5-10% of applicants pass! although in their day the rhodesian SAS and recces were one of the most elite forces as well but looking at things like the embassy siege it has to be the 22 SAS Was this answer helpful to you? snafu	im a firm believer that the british has the best trained army. biggest doesnt neccesarily mean best. yes america has the biggest army and can fight a war on a much larger scale but in combat missions at a unit level there is none better than the british armed forces. the experiences of events in afghanistan (example = the parachute regiments battles in helmand province) and iraq (example = princess of wales royal regiment at al amarah) just show how professional a fighting force they are. not just in the special forces but in the regular regiments who dont get the same exposure Was this answer helpful to you?
