Neither!
Try your best to get into a university or community college.
Fighting for our country is wonderful pride, but you wouldn't be fighting for America. You will be fighting for big, rich American corporations. Iraq is one of the biggest oil resevoirs on Earth. There weren't ever any weapons of mass destruction

Go Navy. If you want to sit in a chair and fix your nails all day then join the air force. The Navy has more planes and do more to help in our currant war. If you work with planes there is a chance you will not be assigned to a ship and spends month on end in a tiny space. Even if you are assigned to a ship it isn't as bad as people say. Besides, more women get raped in the air force. you might get hit on in the Navy but navy men have some morals.

Go AF.....great training....100% tuition assisatnce (free college).....and the skills you get while in translate to good jobs when you get out.....
I would suggest going in elctronics or medical....as there will be a demand for them when your time is up.
Go AF...and work very hard for your first 4 years...and go to college while in.......that way when your first enlistment is over you will have great skills and an education.....and you can decide if the AF is going to be a career, or if you would rather move on to something else........

I was in the Navy, but if i could do it all over again, i would choose the Air Force. The Air Force will not only train you, but will have mentors that will oversee your education. You will have more opportunities to get a college degree in the Air Force. the navy will do some too, but if you get assigned to a ship you might not have time to get a education while your in.

more benefits in the navy but a better lifestyle in the airforce. but what do you want? to be on a ship for 6-7 months or on the ground. either way you will be relatively safe from all the action since both are so far away from the hot zone. the air force has slower promotions. sit down with the recruiters and find out who will guarantee you a job (or will they only guarantee a job field), will you have to take additional tests once you sign up to qualify for a specific job, any sign up bonuses? college money? station of choice?

Well, in my idea, you should go navy since naval aviation is more important then air force aviation in a few ways. Navy is a big suppliers to the US marinetime first which is the US first line of defense.

In the mid 70's, I spent 4 years in the Navy, I was in the Aviation Field, was stationed in San Diego, shore based, but was attached to a Carrier, the U.S.S. Ranger, when it when to sea, we went with it, have been to a number of Countries, in about 78 there was a conflict going on in Africa, we spent 2 months off the shore of Africa, totally miserable, nothing happened. I think in the Air force your probably the furthest from combat. In the Marines or Army your just a ground pounder, exchanging gunfire.
Personally, I would say the Navy, or Air force, A little classier, more education, and a whole lot less sweat.
But anyone you choose, you will have benefits to continue your college education.
Go talk to each one, but don't sign anything until you've given it a lot of thought, and know what your getting into.
If you decide on the Navy, you do not want to be ships company, you want to go into a Field that is shore based.

It will depend on you. Can you be confined to a ship for 6 to 8 weeks ? Remember you will have no time to your self except in the Head. You don't get off duty and go to town. The Air force would be my choice. You can get leave when you want it, If you have it.. The navy will make you wait till the ship is in port. If you are in a foreign port it's Cinderella liberty. A lot has changed since I was in the navy. those were some of the things I didn't like about it. I'm still predigest in favor of the Navy.

What do you want to get out of it?
The Airforce is closer to a civilian lifestyle (unless you specifically choose a job that makes it otherwise). There is a pretty good chance of staying in the US.
The Navy has a more demanding lifestyle, but also potentially more exciting.

Air Force is the classiest service. Navy duty can be brutal -- many months at sea. Avoid the Marines at all costs.

As a navy wife and the mother of AF I would say that by far the AF is the path to go, billets are much nicer, postings are pretty good [depends on job for BOTH forces though]
If you like being cramped into very very small areas with months at sea then pick the Navy, they all pay the same as a base rate.............
Put it this way when my son was picking between the two every Navy man said pick the air force.

Listen here girl! If you want to be chased around by a thousand guys then go Navy... there are far more males in the Navy than there is females. You work hard in the Navy, and they have this stupid thing called Cleaning Quarters, and guess what they do! they clean and clean and clean and clean until, well they clean, and then drill and drill and drill and again and again... My point is that I was in the Navy for 6 Years and It was Hell, When people from the Airforce came onboard out ships... you know what happened? they got paid extra because the living conditions were not up to their standards!!! WTF? they get paid extra and we had to live there for years!! The Airforce Wins by miles and miles trust me! and if you need any more advice you can contact me... at genisjose@yahoo.com... ohh yeah, another thing I joined for 4 years and got extended up to six years without me wanting to! whichever you go to... just do your research better and don't believe what the Recruiters say! DAMN those Recruiters!!!
