my2cents	The best army per soldier is either the british or israelis. Best military is the US. All china has is bodies, not training, tech, logistics or morale. that may have worked in the middle ages, but that does not work in today's warfare Vagabond- the US is best at tech, right about others though. CLIVE H	The debate about which is the best army in the world has gone on ever since I was myself a soldier in the British Army 1957-1965. We settled the debate by simply saying that we thought then that the best Army is probably the Israeli Army. Other people now may have a different opinion, but my vote for the Israeli IDF and Army was confirmed following the Six Fay war. In particular I had a very high regard to Moshe Diane who I knew had been a serving soldier with the SAS during WW2 - at least he had trained with them, because I knew a WW2 SAS sargeant in my own regiment who had been with Moshe somewhere in the North African desert blowing up Nazis. babs	If you are refering to sheer bulk of armour,i.e,Nuclear wepons,guns,men etc, then obviously the USA.They outweigh everyone.But if we are talking Training,CONSISTANCY,HITTING THE RIGHT TARGETS And Staying to finish the job then it has to be the British Army,We maybe smaller but when we do a job it is done properly!!! geoff w	depends what you mean,,, the us military are the best equiped,equipment wise, but sadly lacking in training of enemy/friendly recognition,thats why they "kill"so many of their friends, the brits are are better trained but are deprived of essential equipment by one government after another(sir winston churchill summed it up)"Give us the tools and we will do the job!" so the best in the world at the moment are the Isrealis,,,well equiped and politically guided and they seldom kill their "friends" better at attack,home defence and also seek and destroy(mossad) probably not the answer you wished for Was this answer helpful to you? Unfortunately, they are Lions led by Donkeys (Prime Minister Brown etc.) During my time in the forces, we had a real leader, Mrs. Thatcher and she had more balls that the current Government put together. vagabond_52773	The British and Germans are best a doctrine, but both of these countries are not big enough to do all things, they have limited power projection. The Israelis have the most experience, but little power projection again. The US Army has the most versatility. I wouldn't say the US Army scores the highest in any one area, but high across the board. The US Army is also large enough to do it and has the resources to get there. China is big, but cannot get there, they have very little strategic lift, no real power projection on the military side. Economic side is different. Russia has discipline, but is short on resources, and has limited ability to project power. Looking across the board, the US Army. Not the best at any one thing, but able to do everything. Mike S	Good grief, we have had this question here in a hundred different variations. I put forth to you that the best Army in the world is the one you happen to be serving in. Do you honestly believe that any soldier is going to claim that someone else's Army is better than his? I think not. This has been true since the dawn of professional armies.
