I was about 5 or 6 when 9/11 happened. All i can remember is one of my friends being taken out of school. Then going home and seeing these shocked expressions on my parents faces. I wanted to watch t.v. so they told me to go upstairs. I got really mad because all that was on was the news, with reports on 9/11. I now understand what it was and it makes me really sad.

I was sad. Seeing all the chaos and innocent people jumping out of the towers to escape, and the heartache shown on the faces of people who were looking for their loved ones was very upsetting to say the least.

Plus, nothing about the government's story made sense, so it made me realize that things are not as they seem. It made me want to be patriotic and support the movement to further investigate 9/11.

"When the rich wage war its the poor who die." What pisses me off more than anything is the rich bastards that funded bin ladin are getting off scott free. Not only have we not killed him after nearly 6 years, we haven't done a single thing to uncover and kill those that funded him. On top of that what about the traitors in our governement that helped bil ladin? You know he had insiders to be able to pull off something like this.

nothing directly.
but now i gotta wait in long lines at the airport and i really hate all this extra security checking my baggage. in my opinion it would be more devastating to bomb the airport that it is to hijack a plane. but just the opposite in terms of security, more personnel checking bags than people keeping guard at rest of the airport.

terrorist attack brought the Iraq war, skyrocketing gas, money wasting, recession, and privacy invasion in interest of national security.

None. I'd always believed we'd be hit by a big Terrorist Attack sooner or later... -so it was no surprise to me.

I was on vacation in Ireland when it happened. My younger cousin ran in and said America is being attacked , we turned on the tv and I felt terror ... pure terror. I couldn't get through to any of my family home in Boston. I finally got my aunt and cried with relief that they were okay. I watched the news all day sobbing , my heart breaking for all those who died. I wanted justice for those innocent people. I felt very comforted that our President was as outraged as I was. All the pubs closed on the Friday after 9/11 in Ireland throughout the whole country in morning for America. The people in Ireland were mostly as sad as I was and also wanted justice for those who died. It was a somber time.

It really hit me a week to the day when I had to fly home. I remember the whole plane being somber. Americans hugging each other in the fear of the unknown at home. We were scared and noone wanted to fly. When the plane landed in Boston the whole plane (which was 1/2 empty , something I have never seen on a plane going from Boston to Shannon or Shannon to Boston.) everyone started crying , clapping and singing songs like God Bless America. Then I entered the airport and it was deserted. My mom had come alone because she was too scared to take my younger siblings. We cried when we saw each other. I saw the American flags all over the airport and felt my heart burst with soooo much pride. There was truly noone in the airport and it was eerie. We drove home and I saw American flags on every car and every house and I felt soooo happy that Americans were pulling together. Now I am 27 as opposed to 19. My husband is in the NG and just served a tour in Iraq and I am still full of the Pride for my country that I have always held. I am saddened though that Americans have stopped pulling together, supporting our President and remembering the innocent Americans that died that awful morning.

I was a freshmen in High School at the time, and when I heard my teacher tell us that school was being cancelled early because "the Twin Towers got bombed" as she put it, it was a very scary feeling going through my stomach wondering just what exactly was going on in NYC during that morning. Days afterward, it really had no ill effect on me, but later on, it did expose me to those news channels like CNN and Fox and all the opinions about how it happened, why, and how to prevent it from happening again. That, in turn, helped me learn more about the history of this country, and some of the tragic events that occured way before 9/11. I remember watching footage of an older woman waving the American Flag during some rally, and with outrage, she said "They can't do that to our country, they can't do that here!!" My opinion afterwards was, "Well, they did it, so how do we make sure it doesn't happen again?". That woman voiced displeasure, but not a solution. And in so many ways, that mindset existed here in the U.S.A. before that first plane hit the tower. That mindset of (Oh, well, that's dangerous, but ehh, something like that can never happen here). Death waits for noone, and evil strikes whereever it wants. Doesn't matter what country you reside, politics can't protect you if you're vulnerable. And 9/11 proved just how vulnerable we really are. What's so unfortunate about it also is that 9/11 is a typical day in other countries, most specifically in the Middle East. It goes to show, Death waits for noone. No country is invincible, impenatrable. That's what 9/11 taught me. One thing guaranteed about life, besides the end of course, is that life is uncertain. So, as your momma would say, be careful. If you think you can't be hit by a car, or shot by some thug in the middle of the street, or attacked by some rabid animal while you're walking home from school, because you think to yourself "Nah, that stuff can't happen to me", think again. Anything can happen. That's what 9/11 showed me.

I was actually in the Air Force at the time. They called everyone into work and the base was pretty much locked down and noone could leave their buildings. And we weren't allowed off base for like 12 hours. That's when I first heard of Stop Loss. They ended that 1 month before my 4 years was up.

ahh well

lets look back on where i was when it happened

it was at night since i was onboard a ship standing a gunwatch when it happened overseas.

it was reported to me over the radio to be on my guard, that the US had been attacked.

i didnt quite understand what was going on until i got off my watch and went down to see what was up on CNN.

when i saw it, i had mixed feelings because i know my history.

i felt sadness for the people of NY, i also felt anger as most did. i also felt a bit of remorse for the people who did it. because they didnt know who the hell they just punched. and then i felt pride in the fact that i knew i was in a prime place to do alot of good towards preventing this from happening again.

because a few weeks later my ship was in the arabian gulf and there wasnt an inch in the sky that didnt have a plane in it.

I never had a grey hair until then. I thought and KNEW that when we did not kill Bin Slobbin back in '93 that we would regret it. And it happened. My stomach churned and I filled with rage. I wanted to re-enlist that day. I waited a few weeks though. I wanted so bad for us to wipe out every arab speaking country in the world. I still cant stand them today. Sad but true.

WHOA!!! Becky!! Its Bushs fault 9/11 happened? What the heck are you smokin! Is it Bushs fault that Bin Laden tried to down those buildings in the 90's? Clinton should ahve killed him when he had the chance. No ma'am, Bush did not cause 9/11.

I think that 9/11 was the first time I ever experienced death and suffering first hand. For me, it opened up a variety of thoughts that I had never even considered before, war, cruelty, death, suffering - all those things were on the television for me to see. I saw people kill themselves jumping from buildings that day. I saw people screaming for their lives. I knew that as those towers slowly collapsed, more and more people died with every floor involved in the impact. And this was all in fourth grade.

9/11 is something that I will never forget. It is the most significant thing that has ever happened in my life, including being involved in an accident that left me hospitalised for 6 months.

We all hear about war, and death, and suffering - but that was the first time I SAW war, I SAW death, and I SAW the fear and complete and utter terror; and those people were innocent. Those people could have been me.

I was a junior in high school, and it angered me. I felt like people are out there who hate us just because we are Americans. They don't care if they kill children, women or old people, we are all the same to them. The end result of that anger was my want to join the military, a week after we invaded Iraq, I walked into the recruiters station telling them I wanted in, even though I was only 17.
