GreenBeansRevenge	Baghdad used to be a very metropolitan city with many fine restaurants. Generally speaking, no pig. Sheep is substituted for pig meat in Asia. I havn't been to Iraq for obvious reasons, but other places have 'chuar' It's meat on a stick, usually sheep, octopus or beef. Like a shish ka bob but no vegetables. Various fried breads. eggplant, shrimp, beans, made in local dishes, stews, fried or whatever. today children dig through garbage piles looking for thrown out k rations from the GI's. hammerinprongs	fish and lamb mutton no pork, rice they do drink a lot of sweet tea and dog and cat and rat. what happens when you cut supplies is people have to resort to eating anything to survive. ive ate rat but im trained to do it. ive seen dog dished out to kids in hospital because we bombed the crap out of the food depots. we had medics glean intel from a hospital they brought me back curried meat i ate it and very nice it was too. turns out it was labrador. in times of war the generals always eat better than the people they are supposed to protecting. L	Having not visited, I am, like you, uninformed. Middle-eastern food is characterised by the delicious cous-cous, tagine, chick-peas: falafel & humous, fresh salads and seafood... and relevantly, a country's cuisine is influenced by colonial cuisine to offer quite a nice fusion. keny	Not a lot since the invasion . .half the people are suffering from malnutrition and they`re even lucky to get clean water.its a bit of a come down from before when they had education medical treatment and food equal to most western countries No wonder they`re not to impressed with democracy. hanibal turkey	why is this posted under a military question shouldnt this be under food or something? anyways the soliders are fed atleast 2 square meals a day and friday is steak and shrimp night they eat regular normal food just like they would at home. if there out on a mission than they eat meals ready to eat which are pretty good they have ones with spegetti and aple cobler and many other diffrent meals ready to eat. Wife of 82nd Medic	My husband eats better there than I do here. Steak, lobster, shrimp...they get those I think once a weeks. Otherwise scarfs the junk food I send him, burgers, pizza, omelets made with whatever he wants, waffles...you name it, he eats it. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No
