COLEEN J	Britain has the best and most disaplined army in the world, not only brits join but a vast number of south africans, fijians, and many more countries and how many allies have been killed by friendly fire from the brits in the last few conflicts, alot less than other countries armies... jimmy two times	The U.K, has a very over stretched and under manded armed forces. But man for man they are very well trained, perhaps they don't have the best equipment for the job, which is why they often supplement the kit with extra items payed out of their own pocket. The kit they are issued will get them from 'a to b' but not always in the best of comfort. All armed forces through out of the world have certain characteristics which would define them as good quality. Be it numbers (look at China for example) or budget spending (look at USA), but the British do have a reputation for being good quality. Althought to the guy who thought the Royal Marines belonged to the British Army, they are actually part of the Royal Navy. I have friends who are currently seving with various units in the Army and Royal marines who state that the French are very good medically and in anti mine warfare roles. The Americans are very over rated and not particulary 'switched on' despite the fact thay have millions spent on them, the Canadians, Austarilians and South Africans were also noted as being of a good standard. But in short lets just say that alot of friendly fire which has killed British, Canadian and other friendly troops by the American Shoot first ask later, can point out that they are not that good regardless of how much money is spent on them. But friends who went to Iraq also said how accomadating the Americans were. HHH	Why do people say that it's the USA,they have a crap army and they rely on technology to get through tough times and they might be the best equipped but they are missing the main thing and that's a brain.Britain has the best trained and the best technology while China has the biggest. Curt	If you are talking about entire military then the USA is by far the best. But the US has to sacrifice a lot of quality to reach its numbers, but there are enough special forces and quality troops in the US to outweigh that. If their training is anything like the Royal Marines than the UK Army is probably the highest quality. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

heath t	In terms of sheer military might it is the USA - without a doubt! You guys in the states spend more money on defense that the next seven countries combined and have the best toys. If it was on a man against man basis it would be the British Army. The British squaddie is a really hard bast*rd. The SAS are without a doubt the finest of the finest. Dont get me wrong the American special forces are world class as are the Israeli special forces but they dont come close to the SAS. BUT - if it came down to a scrap the US of A could easily beat the whole world up without breaking into a sweat with enough military might left over at the end to do it all over again if it wanted to (thank god we here in England have the "special relationship" with the USA that we do!!). snarleye	The best trained Army where soldiers are taught to think as well as fight...has to be UK and then China. For best weapons and trigger happy soldiers..US of A all the way. Without modern technology these guys wouldn't stand a chance against most armies...and that's very sad and worrying considering they are the world's self appointed police force! tonalc1	It depends on how you define "best." Taking into account quantity and quality, the ten most deadly armies on the planet belong to China, the United States, India, Russia, North Korea, South Korea, Turkey, Israel, Pakistan and Iran. America isn't on top because, while our ground forces are formidable, superior equipment and training go only so far to make up for the numerical advantage the Chinese have.
